Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and each person lives in their own reality, seeing the world a little differently than everyone else. So, probably, after my comedy class, I somehow managed to open up in a way that the boundaries of my reality dissolved, and Amanda’s reality began to seep into mine. That’s why I saw so many new things in the same city that I had never noticed before. The simple, commonplace explanation for this, of course, would be that she drove me through unfamiliar streets. But to this, I’d reply that before she drove me there, these streets didn’t exist in my reality. They literally appeared like a three-dimensional world unfolding in a game of Need For Speed.
I think this is how it is with any reality. There are as many realities in the world as there are people, and let’s factor in our dreams, where we create new realities, only subtler ones. We can’t forget about the realities painted in our minds through art. Let’s also include the realities of the mentally ill (and among them, there are some incredibly curious ones!). In fact, these realities are often very individual and perhaps even subtler than the realities of our dreams. In addition to all these tangible realities, there is also an infinite space of possibilities from which we can shape any reality that crosses our mind.
And if we can open our minds to see life through the eyes of others, almost like slipping into their reality through some subtle plane, then we can just as easily create any realities for ourselves and move from one to another… Yes, all of this requires a little time and a little consistency. But then again, everything requires attention, consistency, and time to create anything— even a chair. Without attention, consistency, and time, creating something is quite difficult…
