… All objects are alive. And each one can become your true companion. Just like a soft armchair, a fluffy blanket, a small kitten, and the eyes of a child become your true companions. A short life on this planet is merely a journey past small stations. You can stare at the wall where a cockroach crawls, or you can see forests and fields. That’s why I love to travel.
I fly with Amelie along the streets of Paris. I send an air kiss to the green parks, I wrap myself around an old, leaning lamppost like the wind, I say goodbye to the birds who decided to fly to the neighboring town to visit their relatives. I stop by a store window with mirrors, descend to Earth, and watch as in the mirrors, now and then, amazing faces appear – a fruit vendor, a serious yet funny, slightly overweight clerk with a worn-out briefcase, a boy on a bicycle who will fall in two blocks and scrape his knee but won’t remember it until his mother screams and starts putting green ointment on his poor knee. In the mirrors, besides me—the little winged girl Amelie—there reflects a lovely, open summer café across the street. At a table sits a lady in a white hat and a white dress, which flutters in the wind. The lady drinks black coffee and looks at the sky, where two crows are dancing a spring love dance on the wires. The lady smiles because she is in love. It doesn’t matter who her beloved is; what matters is that love lives in her heart. It is enough that she loves the wonderful spring sun, the tender greenery of the trees, and the delicate, transparent wind that picked up a feather from the roof and carried it down to that window where Amelie saw this amazing magical world. I realized that I must fly on. Up the street leading down…
… There are films you can watch endlessly and endlessly die and be reborn. Again… And everything around suddenly becomes meaningful. And I, too, become part of all of this. How amazing life is! Amelie and I have a secret that we will only reveal to those who watch the film.
