I enjoy watching interviews (podcasts) with Huberman — he’s a neuroscientist, and he talks very interestingly about the physiology of the brain and the body in general. I decided to try out some of his advice:

  1. First thing in the morning, expose your eyes to direct sunlight. You don’t need to stare at the sun for a long time, just be where there is sunlight without sunglasses.
  2. After waking up, set a task to complete by noon. Setting this goal and following through stimulates dopamine production and generally helps you feel good.
  3. Move your body.

I’ve been following these three pieces of advice for a few days now and decided to combine them into one: in the morning, I set a goal (choosing from my TO DO list) — one that requires me to move, preferably outside — and I complete it before starting work.

My work starts at 10 AM, and recently I’ve been waking up around 7-8 AM. It’s very convenient to lie down for a bit, decide what I’ll do from the list, then make coffee, sit on the porch in the sun with it. Then, I complete what I’ve planned.

After that, the whole day feels energized, and I want to stay active. And I sleep well afterwards. Even when I sleep less than 7 hours, the quality of sleep remains pretty high.

Just wanted to share this, maybe it’ll be useful for someone.
