Even to me, this now sounds completely nuts. How can people know who I am if I don’t really know the answer to this question myself?

We all know what we think we are. Or what we would like to be or seem… We want people to think of us in a certain way, because we all want to appear different, exceptional, unique, unlike anyone else. But the thing is, we are similar, ordinary, and like everyone. Our uniqueness is just about the combination of very simple and common qualities.

But all of us have it all — kindness, anger, moments of weakness, talents, strength, a sense of humor, intelligence, and silliness. Sometimes we are clumsy and fearful, sometimes we can be brave and surprise even ourselves.

Well, something actually distinguishes us from the others.

How about this… I don’t live with my eyes closed. I’ve learned how to stop and smell the roses. And this gives me so much inspiration in life. Sometimes I get lost in daily thoughts and the overpowering routine, but I can stop and remind myself that the only way to stop being scared of something happening or — for that matter — not happening, is to just stop and think positively about the future. I love being positive. Creating my future. Daydreaming about what I love the most — and allowing it to happen.

And what do I love the most?… Endless warmth — the warmth of the sun, and the warmth of hands. People smiling and being happy. Children singing. Love and affection. Seeing new places and exploring new destinations, driving across America. I love cities, their poetry, and language. I love taking pictures of the city and looking for its spirit.

I love being creative — thinking, creating, making things, expressing my vision in something you can touch, love, and enjoy. I love cooking, inventing new dishes, and being creative about it too, in a way. I love when friends come over — loved, close people.

I value closeness. Relationships to me are not just having a person to talk to, be with, and do stuff together. I find a way to make it “the meeting” of not just two people who we think we are or appear to be, but also the meeting of two who we really are. Those two entities, who show only when there is no fear, when there’s complete trust, and sincerity. I am drawn toward that kind of communication — pure, sincere, open. I am fascinated by the concept of closeness… Some people live together for years and never actually “meet” — they don’t really know who they live with, and they don’t even know who they are themselves.

So, who am I? I am a hopeless romantic. I am tough. I am a smart-ass. I am deeply passionate and devoted. I am incredibly sexual, and my soul is endless like the ocean. When I love, I sparkle. When I give, everything around sparkles. When I sing, people listen. When I dream of something, it comes true.

But you may not see all of this under the shell of a short, fluffy, dark-haired, brown-eyed girl with a cute face, who is about to turn 38, but is always told she looks in her late 20s. You may never realize what an interesting journey you could start by deciding to get to know me better.

I believe all people can be divided into two categories: surfers and divers.

Surfers slide along the surface of their partner’s personality. They tend to value the physical and visual aspects of the relationship: looks, social status, way of life. Surfers are those who get involved with the “lifestyle” of someone, not the real person. What’s most important is that the person doesn’t stand in the way of dating the lifestyle — that’s the extent to which they are interested in someone.

Then there are divers. They may still value the visual and physical, and the social status of their partners may still be important to them, but what really matters is the inner core — the Person. That Someone who is an amazing universe living in the heart of every single human being. You can only reach that Universe if you are willing to dive to the bottom of your partner’s heart. And only there — the real meeting of two real people is possible.

I am a diver. And I need my partner to be a diver. I want to meet deep down there, where it’s the most beautiful. It’s an amazing and unbelievable journey, and I know I can make it unforgettable.

What about you?
