You know, I don’t always behave “properly.” Who wrote these rules? And why do I hear that “my love” isn’t the way it’s supposed to be?
I meet them on my way. Worlds fly past me — parallel, not perpendicular. We do not intersect with them. It's me who is ready to be flexible and meet. They are also ready to meet, but they don’t know how to part. They are afraid of parting. That’s why they never meet. With me.
"Here, you’ll meet many crazy people" – those were almost the first words from the manager who greeted us at half past ten in the evening, when we, exhausted from the long journey, the traffic jams in Miami, and eager to warm up in the local heat, finally arrived at the hotel with the fragrant name Almond Tree. We are all deceived by our expectations. In the endless stream of thoughts about how perfectly the world should align with what we expect, we miss the moment of life itself. By asking, "To accept or not to accept—that is the question," we distance ourselves from life by miles.
I hear the creaking of the white swings. And the supports – they are red. I turn my head and slightly open my mouth. I know my mouth looks beautiful this way. I straighten my back. And I am excited. I am so excited that suddenly it seems like I might fall. But I pull myself together and walk past the small lights.
Love is not something that exists outside of us, beyond our being, consciousness, or heart. Love is our state, and we are solely responsible for it. Love cannot be killed from the outside—only from within.
I believe life doesn’t have to be beautiful.
And it certainly doesn’t have to be perfect.
Perfection is a myth.
